Tuning
With nearly 40 years of tuning experience we can retune your instrument for any pitch range with A=440 to A=442 being standard. On older instruments, we will evaluate your bars and make suggestions on tuning. Some older instruments were not tuned with overtones. To what extent they can be added should be carefully evaluated. We try to do as little impact to the bars so that they will have the longest life possible. Repairing Bars We can fix cracked and split bars and make rosewood, steel or aluminum replacements. Refinishing Bars Refinishing of wood bars includes removing the old finish in a none evasive way. We can repair bars with cracks or splits. Refinishing usually includes a very light sanding to even the grain and appearance. We utilize a state of the art clear finish for excellent appearance, wear resistance, and protection from moisture. We suggest not applying a stain or color finish to the bars but have done so for instruments such as the ebony color originally on Deagan Imperials and, on occasion when a more uniform keyboard appearance is desired. |
These instruments were used by a drum corps and now owned by a high school. The finish had been complete worn away and many bars were cracked. Repaired, retuned and refinished.
